Surabaya is the second-largest city in Indonesia and also the capital of the province of East Java. Surabaya is also known as "the city of heroes" because of its role in the nation’s independence struggle. The city’s historical sites include Kali Mas harbour with its tall-mastered trading schooners and, nearby, the narrow alleyways and shops of the Arab quarter, redolent of the Middle East.

Surabaya is set to host an interesting cultural event this July dubbed Cross Culture International (CCI) 2017. With the theme of “Folk Art Festival, this annual event will be joined by many foreign participants, including those hailing from China, Russia, Slovakia, Canada, Poland, Thailand and Lithuania.

CCI 2017 will be divided into two sessions: an opening event on July 9 and a series of events that will run from July 16 to 20.
